5 New Airlines Coming to Cambodia, 2 Already in Operation

Phnom Penh- Five new passenger-based airlines are in operation in Cambodia’s aviation system in which 2 of them are already operating in Cambodia’s airspace including Small Planet Airlines, a Lithuania-based airline, and KC International Airlines, a Cambodian-Chinese joint venture.

Leaving the rest of 3 which are Air Siem Reap, Prince International Airline, and Cambodia Airways that are soon to receive approval and license.

Small Planet Airlines made their first demonstration flight on the 23rd of September 2017 and then secured an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) in October. The airline has commenced on the 5th of December by operating charter flights from Siem Reap to South Korea and China with an A320 aircraft.

KC International Airlines, a joint-venture between Cambodia and China with a startup capital of USD 100 million launched in March 2017, now serves the Cambodian airspace market. Scheduled operations are due to commence in January 2018 focusing on mainland Chinese market.

Prince International Airlines and Cambodia Airways, owned by Prince International Airlines Co., Ltd to which are both backed by Chinese investors are expected to operate early next year. Prince Airlines will focus on tourism charter and local business clients launching with three A320s and two Gulfstream jets. Meanwhile, for Cambodia Airways, after receiving principle approval from the Royal Government of Cambodia on September 2017, it will schedule services to Japan, South Korea, SEA, and Europe.

Last but not least, Air Seam Reap, a joint-owned airline by Bangkok Airways and Cambodian tycoon Ly Yong Phat, plans to base out of Siem Reap International Airport and is yet to receive in-principle approval from the government.
