Airport Railway line to Open on April 10
PHNOM PENH – The new train that will transport passengers from the center of Phnom Penh to Airport is set to open before Khmer New Year.
According to government and Royal Railways officials, a railway connecting Phnom Penh International Airport and the railway station on Monivong Monivong Boulevard is planned to run on the 10th of April.

According to government and Royal Railways officials, a railway connecting Phnom Penh International Airport and the railway station on Monivong Monivong Boulevard is planned to run on the 10th of April.
There are only a few small tasks remaining for the infrastructure of the project to be done, according to, Deputy Director of the Cabinet at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Hoeurn Somnieng.
Based on the data from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, three million vehicles were registered in 2016, including 500,000 cars and 2.5 million motorbikes.
“The new train will help reduce traffic congestion and reduce the time for travelling from the center of the city to the airport”, said Somnieng.
In accordance with local reports, the service will be free for passengers in the first two-and-a-half months, and the train will reach its destination faster than an average tuk-tuk or car – take only 22 to 30 minutes, said Royal Railways CEO John Guiry.
