Apple Unveils iPhone 7

At its highly anticipated event on Wednesday, Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, along with a couple of other new products.

So here's what's new about the iPhone 7, which will be available in select countries on Sep. 16.

No more headphone jack

Instead, the new smartphone will come with EarPods with a lightning connector, as well as a lightning to headphone jack adaptor. Apple’s new wireless headphones, AirPods, will also be selling for $159 USD. It also includes a charging case.

Better cameras

•    –  12-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture
•    –  7-megapixel front camera
•    –  includes optical image stabilization
•    –  dual 12-megapixel lens on the iPhone 7 Plus

Water and dust resistant

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus can withstand up to 3.2 feet under water for 30 minutes

Increased storage

It will be available in 32GB, 128GB, 256GB, getting rid of Apple's previous minimum storage of 16GB.

Faster and increased battery life

Reportedly up to 14 hours of video playback.

New stereo speakers

2x louder than the iPhone 6s

New colours

In addition to silver, gold and rose gold, Apple is introducing glossy black and matte black colour options. Space gray will no longer be available.

The new iPhones' starting retail price is at $649 USD for the iPhone 7 and $769 for the 7 Plus.

Apple also unveiled its new Apple Watch Series 2, which is now waterproof and has GPS tracking.
