BonnPhum – A Cambodian Folklife Festival

Phnom Penh- BonnPhum, literally meaning “Village Festival”, was founded in 2013 by Plerng Kob, a non-profit organization, to revive and preserve old Cambodian traditions into the modern world. The project has continued ever since and returns this year in 2018 from 6th to 8th of April at Kork Ampil pagoda to celebrate the new year of the dog.

The project has continued ever since and returns this year in 2018 from 6th to 8th of April at Kork Ampil pagoda to celebrate the new year of the dog.

The event is free-entry and welcomes all participants to join providing a warm atmosphere rich in culture, love, and fun where Cambodian culture thrives. Each year, the organizers provide bus rides from the Olympic stadium to the designated pagoda. For this year, the tickets are issued at 5000 riels for two trips. The times available for departure are 7am – 7pm and 8am – 10pm while the returns are available every hour, returning whenever the bus is full.

In addition, the team puts all their efforts into designing and decorating the pagoda to truly be a festival and coming up with new ideas that are exciting for participants to join. The festival offers a blend of modern and traditional music will be put side by side as well as plenty of activities to do.
