Cambodia Becomes One of the Top 10 Most Vegetarian-Friendly Countries in the World

One of the fascinating things about traveling is trying various kinds of foods. However, for those who are vegetarians, it can be quite hard for them to find the right restaurant for their appetites.

Recently, Oliver’s Travels, a travel agency in London, has released a map list which consist of the top 20 most vegetarian-friendly countries in the world. Surprisingly, Cambodia was also seen in the list, and even made it into one of the top 10, ranking at number 7 below Singapore.

Phnom Penh- One of the fascinating things about traveling is trying various kinds of foods. However, for those who are vegetarians, it can be quite hard for them to find the right restaurant for their appetites.

Recently, Oliver’s Travels, a travel agency in London, has released a map list which consist of the top 20 most vegetarian-friendly countries in the world. Surprisingly, Cambodia was also seen in the list, and even made it into one of the top 10, ranking at number 7 below Singapore.

Oliver’s Travels had created Global Vegetarian Index to rank the country and the calculation is based on 3 categories: (1)

number of vegetarian restaurants, (2) number of vegetarian restaurants in relation to population size, and (3) annual meat consumption per capita (kg).


Cambodia ranked number 7 as the most friendly-vegetarian countries in the world

In the case of Cambodia, according to Oliver’s Travels, we consumed 16.6 annual meat per capita, have 153 vegetarian restaurants, with around 105K people per vegetarian restaurant. Cambodia’s Global Vegetarian Index Score is 301, in which placed us at the 7th place.

These are such interesting information, and at the same time, useful as well for vegetarian travellers across the world.
