The Cambodia-Japan Friendship Bridge Will Be Closed for 2years
From 1st January 2017, The Cambodia-Japan Friendship Bridge (The old Chroy Changvar Bridge) will be closed about 2 years for renovating, according to a statement posted by H.E Khoung Sreng, Phnom Penh Deputy Governor, who attended in an inter-ministerial meeting took place on 10th August 2016.
Because the Cambodia-Japan Friendship Bridge is too old and impaired, so Cambodian authorities have the plan to renovate the bridge soon, in order to keep it for a long usage. Furthermore, the plan is assisted in financial by Japan which is an unconditional aid, so officials and experts are invited to discuss before the operation start.

The operation in renovating the bridge will spend about 33 million USD and will start from 1st January 2017 and expect to finish on the middle of January 2019, so the bridge will be closed temporarily during this time.
The Cambodia-Japan Friendship Bridge was built in 1966, which has 709 meters long, and in 1994 it has renovated and opened for using after it was cut during the war in 1972.
