PHNOM PENH— Cambodia on Wednesday launched a China-funded project on maternal and child health care, which was designed to provide better health services to mothers and children.

Cambodian Health Minister Mam Bunheng and Li Bin, Minister in charge of the China’s National Health and Family Planning Commission, jointly unveiled the project at the National Pediatric Hospital in Phnom Penh.

Bunheng said under the three-year project, China’s Hunan Children’s Hospital would provide both technical support and budget to the National Pediatric Hospital.

“The project is another new achievement in health cooperation between our two countries and clearly reflects China’s high attention to improving the well-being of mothers and children in Cambodia,” he said.

“The project will contribute to implementing the Cambodian government’s strategy in reducing the mortality rate of mothers and children,” he added.
