Cambodia Plans to Add LGBT Course to General Studies Program

Cambodia Students to be taught about LGBT issue, sex and gender-based violence for the first time.

Working closely with the LGBT advocates, The Ministry of Education is preparing a new course called “Life Skills” for grade1 to grade 12 students. And, in grade 5, student will be taught about the coursework.

With the “Life Skills” course, student will explore the biology of male and female bodies and issues around gender-based violence, force marriage and discrimination based on sexual orientation. Moreover, students will be introduced to the gender identity and differences from biological sex, according to local reports.

“Life Skills” is a new course in the education system of Cambodia. It is such a great move to prevent the discrimination and introduce students about the gender identity as well as gender-based violence, and many more.
