Cambodia Receives $50 million in Aids and Loans from France
Phnom Penh- Cambodia receives USD 50 million from France in aids and loans through Agence Française de Developpement (AFD) for clean water, and sanitation in the provinces as well as improving the education sectors, according to a statement from the Ministry of Finance and Economy.
A meeting was held between Philippe Baudain, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of AFD and Vongsey Vissoth, a secretary of state at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to talk about development cooperation.
A concessional loan agreement was signed by H.E. Vongsey Vissoth for sanitary projects in the provinces to which a sum of USD 49.7 million will be provided. An addition of a grant aid agreement of USD 1.24 million was also signed by Vissoth for development of educational sectors.

Separately, Arts education is proposed to incorporate in every school in Cambodia recently. The program now runs four after-school art clubs in photography, drawing, dancing and singing out of its offices on Preah Sisowath High School’s campus, drawing roughly 80 students a week, according to local reports.
Despite the challenges such as lacking of interest and being widespread perception that kind of careers in the arts earn little bit money, there are remains optimistic about the possibility to fully incorporate arts education into public school.
This goal has already shared by the Ministry of Education in which they proposed a new national curriculum in 2015 to include arts education one hour per week as a separate subject.
