The agreement that we have signed will provide almost the whole fund to forest and communities protection,” Say Sam Al, Minister of Environment was quoted as saying in the statement.

The sold carbon credit will be placed in the volunteer carbon markets so that business firms, agencies and individuals can pay for many actions that they do and contribute to reduction of the emission of toxic gas. In the protected areas of Keo Seima, quantity and quality of carbon credit will be verified by two leading verifying systems namely the carbon and climate standard and community and biology standard.

The Ministry of Environment is scheduled to organize an event shortly to celebrate this great achievement for forest preservation in Cambodia.
