A Cambodian Teenager Apprehended After Pirating Movie “Jailbreak”
A teenager has been caught recently for recording new blockbuster Khmer action movie at Platinum Cineplex cinema, Siem Reap, Cambodia.
The young man known by his Facebook account “Ãh Dâ Koch Jet”, used his mobile phone to record one of the most attractive films called “Jailbreak” for about 20 minutes before the cinema’s staff spotted him.
The cinema didn’t hand him over to the police, even his action is against the law relating to illegally copying and distribution of movies. They have just apprehended him and advised him not to do again next time.

The young man known by his Facebook account “Ãh Dâ Koch Jet”, used his mobile phone to record one of the biggest titles called “Jailbreak” for about 20 minutes before the cinema’s staff spotted him.
The cinema didn’t hand him over to the police, even his action is against the law relating to illegally copying and distribution of movies. They just apprehended him and advised him not to do it again.
According to PuPrum Entertainment Facebook page, the distributor of films produced in Cambodia, have posted a photo with the meaning “Please don’t be like him. For his own benefit, he destroyed Khmer movies”, which came along with caption, “To support Khmer movies, please don’t pirate them! If you catch anyone taking or filming the movie, please let the cinema team know. Let’s do it together for a better Khmer movie industry!”
However, some Cambodian netizens expressed their ideas over this case that, “This is not cool, getting movie lives on your Facebook just to get likes by killing other’s hard work and blood. Say NO to pirate!”
While the others seemed not to understand how wrong is to pirating by commenting that, “Is it wrong to take one photo and then post about how we feel, is it wrong?”
Pirating movie or Film Piracy is the illegal copying and distribution of movies in print, videos, DVDs or electronic files. In a simple way, it is an act of copying a movie by not buying the retail DVD or CD. And what you need to know is, you can go to jail by doing this action.
