Court Tries Suspects of Human Trafficking
A Japanese restaurant owner and two other Cambodians were arrested and sent to Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Monday, suspects of human trafficking by Phnom Penh Municipal Police’s Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department.
The three are FUKUI SUSUMU, aged 52, owner of a Japanese restaurant while the other two Cambodians are Seng Chandy and Lim Leakhena, aged 30 and 28 respectively.
Phnom Penh– A Japanese restaurant owner and two other Cambodians were arrested and sent to Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Monday, suspects of human trafficking by Phnom Penh Municipal Police’s Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department.
The three are FUKUI SUSUMU, aged 52, owner of a Japanese restaurant while the other two Cambodians are Seng Chandy and Lim Leakhena, aged 30 and 28 respectively.
They work on recruiting 10 Cambodian girls to work for them at the Japanese restaurant owned by FUKUI SUSUMU by promising between $3,500 – $5,000 of monthly salary as well as allowing each of them to borrow $500.
In return to the promise, the victims agreed to work for them and were sent to work in Japan. Unfortunately, while in Japan, these Cambodian girls were trafficked from one place to another, forcing to be a prostitute. Some escaped and sought for assistance from the Ministry of Interior’s police, which lately led to the arrests of FUKUI SUSUMU and his team in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
On Monday afternoon, the court continued questioning them and will make a decide according to the law.
