Phnom Penh– European Union has dropped down its pledged package aid to the Khmer Rouge tribunal known as the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) to only €2.9 Million ($3.1 million) for this year of 2016, a press release issued today, July 26, 2016 by the ECCC said.
The aid package represents only 30 percent of the amount that EU has pledged to the ECCC for its continued operation. The amount will be divided into €1.5 Million for the international component and another €1.4 Million for the Cambodian component of the ECCC.
EU pledged in 2015 a total aid package of €8.9 Million ($9.8 million) to ECCC. However, by 2016, only €2.9 Million of the pledged amount has been provided.
