Facebook’s New Feature “Downvote” Button Now In Testing
PHNOM PENEH – Facebook is now testing a new feature “Downvote” button that lives underneath the comment made on public page post.
The motivation behind the Downvote button is to create a lightweight way for users to report to Facebook the inappropriate, uncivil, or misleading comments, said Facebook spokesperson.
The new Downvote option makes it much easier for users to flag inappropriate content with a simple click. Facebook will offer four reasons for user to choose after downvoting including “offensive”, “misleading”, “off topic”, and an “undo” button to stop a downvote.
This new feature has been tested on a small number of people in USA.

Despite the fact that Facebook “dislike” option has long been requested by users, Facebook has never given in.
“We are not testing a dislike button. We are exploring a feature for people to give us feedback about comments on public page posts. This is running for a small set of people in the U.S. only.”
Back in 2015, CEO Mark Zuckerberg responded to a Q&A question about it, saying:
“We didn’t want to just build a Dislike button because we don’t want to turn Facebook into a forum where people are voting up or down on people’s posts. That doesn’t seem like the kind of community we want to create.”
Stay tuned for more updates on this new “Downvote” feature.
