Fire Raged Over Chbar Ampov Market Causing Extensive Damage
Phnom Penh— An uncontrollable fire has raged over Chbar Ampov market causing millions of dollars’ worth of damage. The fire has started around 11:30pm on March 15th, while citizens in the surrounding vicinity fight the flames with water hoses.
Up until the morning of March 16th at 9:30am, the fires had not fully been doused and has shown the extensive damage it caused. Market stalls worth of USD 10,000 to 15,000 was completely destroyed as well as other stored products and equipment.

Phnom Penh— An uncontrollable fire has raged over Chbar Ampov market causing millions of dollars’ worth of damage. The fire has started around 11:30pm on March 15th, while citizens in the surrounding vicinity fight the flames with water hoses.
Up until the morning of March 16th at 9:30am, the fires had not fully been doused and has shown the extensive damage it caused. Market stalls worth of USD 10,000 to 15,000 was completely destroyed as well as other stored products and equipment.
According to local report, 586 stalls were burned, as well as the report mentioned over 200 fire trucks had been transported to the area to deal with the flames.
After the flames had been dealt with, the government promised to help repair the damage. Governor of Phnom Penh, Khoung Sreng, visited vendors at Chbar Ampov market to assure them that help is on the way.
The officials are speeding up the clearance of waste and rumble from the fire to quickly reorganize the market so business can start running again.
The repairs include rebuilding the damaged roofs, construction of road infrastructures, and the sewage system around the market and the cement filling in the premises that will allow previous vendors to build their own stalls. Newcomers will not be allowed to build stalls overlapping previous owners.
