“First They Killed My Father” Released on Netflix Next Month

First They Killed My Father is set to release this September

Phnom Penh— “First They Killed My Father”, directed by Angelina Jolie, is set to release on Netflix this September 15^th.

“First They Killed My Father” is the film adaptation of Cambodian author and Human Rights activist, Loung Ung’s bitter memoir of surviving the deadly Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 till 1979.

The movie unfolds the story of Loung Ung and her family struggling to survive the Khmer Rouge through her point of view, who was only 5 years old when the Khmer Rouge consolidated the power in Cambodia.

Filmed in Cambodia between November 2015 to February 2016 at various places such as Battambang, Siem Reap, and Phnom Penh, the movie was entirely shot in Khmer language and Cambodian casts with Sareum Srey Moch as Loung Ung, Phoeung Kompheak as the father, and Sveng Socheata as the mother.

“First They Killed My Father” had held its premier screening at several locations in February earlier this year, and many people are excited to know that the movie will be released on Netflix in the upcoming month. At the same time, plenty of people also want the movie to be screening in the local cinemas in Cambodia as well.
