“First They Killed My Father” To Be Named for Oscar Nomination

“First They Killed My Father” is based on a true story of a girl, Loung Ung, who went through the deadly Khmer Rouge regime and how her family had struggled to survive. Directed by Angelina Jolie and Rithy Panh, made this movie successfully and received massive support in the United States of America.

Upon the announcement of the official Oscar nomination selection, Angelina said, “We [Jolie and Ung] were together when we received the news and it was very emotional. This has been a long journey for me, and while it is personal, it is also reflective of the experience of millions of Cambodians. We are very proud to be representing Cambodia as this year’s selection and share this moment with the country”.
