The 10 flags of 10 countries in ASEAN

Recently, Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Najib Razak, has urged people to officially speak Bahasa Melayu or Malay as the language of ASEAN by 2050. Approximately 290 million people speak Malay and it is one of the languages in 4 of 10 ASEAN members: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. There is also a large ethnic group in the Southern part of Thailand speaks Malay.

“ As we head towards 2050, I would like to see Bahasa Melayu become the main official of ASEAN, ” said Najib on Wednesday.
