New Airport Railway Road to be Operational by Khmer New Year

Phnom Penh- By Khmer New Year, there will be a new railway line from Phnom Penh train station to the new airport, according to the director of the Railway Department.

For the time being, the construction of the rail road is being developed as planned.

The announcement of the construction plans came a few days after the construction of a new airport was approved by the Council of Ministers. The location chosen for the new airport was Kandal province and will be designed to accommodate larger aircrafts.

The railway line will be done by Khmer New Year; however, the new airport in Kandal province won’t be completed until approximately the next 4 years thus, the railway service will reduce traffic congestion in the city.

The project is being held by the Royal Group and in addition, the new train will use 3 train engines from Mexico and each train will be able to carry 100 passengers. In December, the Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Sun Chanthol said the new train service will be free for all for the first three months after its completion.
