New Cambodia-Thailand International Border Checkpoint Officially Set to Open Next Month

PHNOM PENH- Cambodia and Thailand’s new international border checkpoint officially announced to open in mid-May.

The Phnom Dey International Border Checkpoint, which links Battambang province of Cambodia and Sa Kaeo province of Thailand, is set to open on May 18, said Keo Bunthoeun, Deputy border police chief at Unit 817, according to local reports.

The border checkpoint building has been completed, what remains is the installation of equipment to facilitate the flow of tourists, according to Ngin Linazano, Director of the Phnom Dey immigration office.

PHNOM PENH– Cambodia and Thailand’s new international border checkpoint officially announced to open in mid-May.

The Phnom Dey International Border Checkpoint, which links Battambang province of Cambodia and Sa Kaeo province of Thailand, is set to open on May 18, said Keo Bunthoeun, Deputy border police chief at Unit 817, according to local reports.

The border checkpoint building has been completed, what remains is the installation of equipment to facilitate the flow of tourists, according to Ngin Linazano, Director of the Phnom Dey immigration office.

The upgrade of the Phnom Dey border checkpoint to an international border checkpoint will enable larger and wider commercial flow. Mr. Linazano expected that it will bring development for people and the governments of both countries.

According to local reports, the Phnom Dey International Border Checkpoint in Battambang province’s Sampov Loun district was officially opened to buttress the Daung International Checkpoint in Kamrieng district, last year.
