Revenue from customs and excise rise to USD 883 million in the first quarter, 20% higher than previous year
Informed by H.E Kun Nhem Deputy Director General, General Department of Customs and Excise, “The revenue from customs and excise rise to USD 883 million in the first quarter of 2016, 20% higher than in the first quarter of 2015, resulted only 19.4%. However, this revenue outlined only 55 percent of its target as approved in the 2016 national budget.
H.E Kun Nhem gave this statement during the Aggregate Meeting of Customs and Excise for the first quarter of 2016, held on July 11th, 2016, joined by H.E Aun Porn Moniroth, Senior Minister, Ministry of Economy and Finance of Cambodia, as well as, the management team from Ministry of Finance and all staff levels the General Department of Taxation in Cambodia.

Moreover, the action plan from General Department of Taxation is operated according to the basic strategy of the government, mobilizing revenue in average between 2014-2015, reforming strategy and modernization of customs administration 2014-2015, which included some effective keys such as: Improving Customs Administration, Good Governance and Discipline, Improving Technical Customs and customs policy, Measuring on Law Enforcement (Prevention and Suppression of fugitive tax), Trade Facilitation, International Affairs, Consultation with private sectors, Training Human Resources, and Institutional Development….
In addition, H.E Aun Porn Moniroth also took this time to express his gratitude on the efforts from each individual officers of Customs and Excise, for doing a very good jobs.
After revealing from the general economy state both local and international, his excellency also specified on the revenue receiving customs, which also involved with international trade, indeed; he also acknowledged the challenges, that requires more attentions in collecting more revenue effectively.
Also, he revealed his gratefulness for the support from the government, as well as, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Department of Taxation, for their hardworking, in measuring the strategy and policies, or any reforming from the government.
He also raised the “Five words” speech from Samdech Hun Sen, Current Cambodian Prime Minister, during his lecture in 65th Administration of Customs & Excise held on June 29th, 2016, as reminders to mobilizing revenue even more effectively.
As an encouragement to every Customs & Excise officers for fulfilling their duties toward the Deputy Ministers of Ministry of Economy & Finance, each received an gratitude figures as well.
