Second Thai Coffee Brand to Open in Cambodia This Month

PHNOM PENH – CAMBODIA-BASED RCG Retail (Cambodia) Co.,Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Thailand-based Bangchak Retail Co.,Ltd recently.

According to the Thai newspaper The Nation, Cambodia will open the first branch of Inthanin coffee in Phnom Penh this month (March), followed by the second branch in Siem Reap in April. Cambodia also plans to expand Inthanin coffee brand to over 100 stores in Cambodia from this month until 2022.

Inthanin will be the second Thai coffee brand, following Amazon coffee brand, to open in Cambodia.

“Cambodia has a strong demand to consume coffee and the purchasing power to spend an average USD 4/cup,” said Viboon Wongsakul, Bangchak Retail Co Ltd’s Managing Director.

In the first year of operation, Viboon has targeted average sales of 300 cups a day.

For franchises in Cambodia, the coffee will be imported from Thailand, while baked goods will be produced locally because the companies want to support the local goods.

As of now, Thai company had already contracted with 20 Cambodian producers, according to Jiranun Wongmongkol, the president of RCG Retail (Cambodia) Co.,Ltd.

Through this investment, Mr. Jiranun expects to create more than 2,000 jobs for Cambodian people.
