SMART Axiata Brings LTE Advance Pro (4.5G Networks) to Cambodia
Smart Axiata, one of the leading Mobile operator in Cambodia, announced to be the first company to launch 4.5 networks or LTE Advance Pro, on the 21st of August, at Sofitel Phnom Penh Hotel, with the participating from many honor and special guests including the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, H.E. Tram Iv Tek.
In the event called, “4.5G Evolution: Road to 5G”, Smart Axiata in collaboration with Huawei, the Chinese technology giant firm, showed the participants of how the new technology supplies faster download and upload speeds and more upcoming entertainments.

According to Thomas Hundt, the CEO of Smart Axiata, “Since the beginning, especially these last 3 years, we have always tried to pushed ourselves to be the most advanced telecommunications in Cambodia, in order to improve on telecommunication and mobile internet”
“Nowadays, there are 1,500 base stations and three types of smartphone have already been outfitted with the LTE Advance Pro”.
Importantly, 4.5G networks or LTE Advance Pro are able to provide mobile internet speed 8 times faster than normal 4G LTE, and also offer a peak capacity to reach speeds, which is up to 600mb/s.
Mr. David Li Xiongwei, the CEO of Huawei Technologies Cambodia, also expressed that, “I am so happy that Huawei and Smart Axiata are cooperating on bringing the 4.5G networks to Cambodia. Moreover, this technology will be a network for the eventual adoption of the 5G standard, while making significant improvements to 4G networks by allowing them handle more data-intensive apps”.
