The start-up scene in Cambodia is growing, and with that, new businesses are popping up with innovative ideas that aim to solve everday challenges. Here are our top 4 Phnom Penh-based start-ups:

1. EXNET Taxi

Phnom Penh's version of Uber, EXNET provides the link between the passenger and taxi drivers in your area. The mobile app allows passengers to submit a trip request by entering their destination and location, which is then accepted by one of the company’s registered drivers. The app shows both the customer’s and driver’s location through the use of GPS-tracking. This convenient app removes the hassle of calling a taxi and describing your location and destination.

2. Pengpos

After a long day at work, nobody wants to come home to an empty fridge and have to go grocery shopping. Pengpos is the solution to just that. It's an online grocery delivery service that delivers your groceries to your doorstep on the same day you place your order. The website sells food and household products and charges a delivery fee (free delivery for orders over $80).

3. EZ Go

Haggling with tuk-tuks can be a real drag—it’s a waste of time and tourists who don’t know any better are often overcharged. EZ Go does away with bartering by using metered tuk-tuks, where fares are based on standardized distance-based rates. Rates are set at 3,000 riel for the first kilometre, and 360 riel for every additional 300 metres. 

4. BookMeBus 

BookMeBus is an online bus ticket booking system. The company aggregates bus schedules from different companies across the country to allow travellers to search for bus routes and tickets in one place. This way, you can compare ticket prices and routes. BookMeBus also allows travellers to book ferries from Sihanoukville to the Koh Rong Islands.
