Phnom Penh- On March 11th 2018, a GAC vehicle has been chased and seriously damaged by a crowd of people, claiming that the driver had caused several hit-and-run traffic accidents along the road.
The shocking moment occurred at around 5pm at the corner of the street 156 and 265 in Sangkat Teuk Laok, Khan Toul Kork, Phnom Penh, where the driver has been severely injured due to the direct hit from the crowd with rocks and helmets. The vehicle, which was seen as a black GAC vehicle with the plate number: 2AP-9719, was also badly damaged, clearly seen through the broken mirror and broken headlights.
According to local reports, it has been claimed that the vehicle had been driven along the way to Sontevoan Pagoda, Russey Keo district, before the accident occurred. There is no any clear reports on the number of injuries to the vehicles, which the car had previously hit along the way. However, the driver of the car was in the critical situation in the hospital that he was immediately transferred to the hospital in Vietnam.
Just after the accident had occurred, the car tried to escape to the Old Stadium Roundabout, followed by a crowd of people before causing another accident on a motorbike at the north of Central Market which caused an injury to a motorbike driver. However, the car kept on escaping, followed by a larger group of people.
“This car had just caused the hit-and-run accidents!”, some people shouted it out loud, causing the situation a more and more irate one before the car crashed another motorbike at the corner of the street 160 and 261 in Sangkat Teuk Laor 2, causing injury to the driver of the motorbike.
However, followed by the crowd, the car hadn’t stopped until it reached the corner of the Street 156 and 265 in Sangkat Teuk Laok 2, when its radiator leaked and could not move. The brutal violence then occurred when some of the crowd used rocks and helmets to hit the driver until he terribly suffered and was sent to a private hospital by the local authority.
The driver has been later identified as Dr. Suy Sareth, 52, the former professor in the university. The case of accident has been put under the investigation by the authority in order to find the justice for all the victims suffering from the accident and the violence. The later update reported that there was no particular report on the first two accidents, claiming that only the accident on the street 160 has been confirmed.
This case is supposed to be most talk about topic among Cambodian netizens this week.
