PHNOM PENH- Uploading copyrighted and licensed videos such as music videos and movies is finally banned in Cambodia.

Facebook and YouTube offer a convenient way for people to catch up with news as well as entertainment, and that’s what make it become the most popular social networks. However, these two famous social networks have deal with copyright violation across the world, so is Cambodia.


The uploading videos to YouTube and Facebook without owner’s permission has been banned

Numerous videos have been shared and re-uploaded without permission of the owner by many Cambodian Facebook accounts and pages. For the past few months, there was a big copyright issue happened in Cambodia. cinematic movies were illegally recorded and uploaded on social network publicly.

To deal with this copyright infringement, on 9th of May 2017, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Art has officially announced that certain action will be taken legally in order to prevent this issue, according to the ministry official Facebook page.

Hopefully, this announcement will be implemented effectively in order to prevent this concern.
