Video Footage of Deserted Restaurants in Cambodia Triggered Childhood Memories

Phnom Penh─ Back in the early 2000s, restaurants in Prek Leap Commune were indeed very famous with many families flocking the dining places, especially during the weekends.

Recently, a video footage posted by a Facebook account, “Sakk”, has caught a lot of attentions from the netizens, expressing of how the video has brought back their vivid childhood memories.

The video shows the footage of a once very popular restaurant, “Hang Neak”, which located in Prek Leap, National Highway 6, although it has been abandoned for years already.

Some beautifully-decorated sculpture and places

Hang Neak Restaurant was a massive restaurant complex, with spacious dining area, stages for comedy shows and entertaining music, fish ponds, waterfalls as well as many other beautifully-decorated sculptures.

Netizens were feeling nostalgic upon seeing the video, saying how it reminds them of all the fun time they had there when they were young and how it used to be one of the best places, where their families tended to gather, eat, talk, and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

A few days before the video of Hang Neak Restaurant was posted, the same Facebook account, “Sakk”, also uploaded a video footage, filming another famous restaurant, “Heng Lay”, although it has been abandoned as well.

Both Hang Neak and Heng Lay Restaurant were considered to be ones of the largest and prevailing restaurants back in the days, with many people crowding the places almost every evening. Despite being deserted for many years, the memories of these two dining places still remain within people’s mind.
