“WannaCry” A Dangerous Cyber-attack And How To Prevent It

PHNOM PENH-  Viruses have spread from one computer to another. However, the WannaCry virus is a dangerous cyber-attack, nowadays. It has infected many computers in many countries around the world.

WannaCry is a form of ransomware, which usually comes from email attachments and links. It appears to only infect computers powered by Microsoft Windows. Once it infects your computer, it locks up your files and demands your payment to regain your access. However, Security experts warn there is no guarantee that access will be granted after payment.

With this dangerous virus, we need to be very careful to prevent it. Importantly, If your computer is infected, here is a tip to recover for you. However, according to Guinet, computer must not have been rebooted after being infected and the associated memory has not been allocated and erased by some other process. This tool can only be used by those who can use those prime numbers to generate the decryption key manually to decrypt their WannaCry-infected PC’s files.

No report about this kind of virus attacks on computers in any companies or organizations in Cambodia yet, however, the high warning is also coming up in order to raise the awareness, by not clicking on the suspicious or anonymous link and email.
