What’s New For This 2017 Angkor Sankranta?

Siem Reap─ Khmer New Year is coming next week and the 2017 Angkor Sankranta’s preparations are seen to be going smooth as well.

Siem Reap’s Angkor Sankranta has been organized to celebrate the traditional Khmer New Year, to build up the solidarity among Cambodians, and to preserve the glorious Khmer traditions, cultures and customs. This would be the 5^th year that Angkor Sankranta has been conducted by the Union of Youth Federation of Cambodia (UYFC), and it has attracted over a million of both local citizens and foreign tourists for the past years.

Angkor Sankranta has always come up with something special and unique each year, so what is new and different for 2017?

For this 2017 Khmer New Year celebration, Angkor Sankranta will be presenting a giant Cha Pei Dong Veng, the traditional Cambodian guitar-liked musical instrument, and a giant chicken nest, as 2017 is the year of chicken.

Previously, Angkor Sankranta has been featuring with many stuffs, such as the giant, 4-ton traditional sticky rice cake (Nom Ansorm), which was set as a Guinness World Record back in 2015, a giant palm leaf hat, a giant palm juice container, and also broke another Guinness Word Record for the largest Madison dance with 2015 people.
