Why “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” Banned For Screening in Cambodia?

PHNOM PENH- The Kingsman is not coming to Cambodia. It is a sad news, isn’t it?

The sequel to the successful “Kingsman: The Secret Service 2014”  was surprisingly banned in Cambodia and fans are disappointed.

Scheduled to hit the Cambodia cinemas on 21st September, which is distributed by Westec Media Limited (WML+), later confirmed that the movie was officially banned by the Movie department of The Ministry of Fine Art.

While fans demand a particular reason that lead to the banning, no official reason is given. However, it is said that the movie is banned due to the inappropriate scenes, which might bring negative images and reactions to the country as well as Cambodian people.

The banning of the screening of “Kingsman: The Golden Circle”, led to a mixed reaction from movie-goers. Some for the ban and some against. The against is no other than coming from Kingsman’s fans in Cambodia. Their expectation and excitement have just ruined once the decision was made.

For a movie to be successfully distributed and shown, it is need to be analyzed in many criteria and it must go through regular censorship procedures by the movie department of the Ministry of Fine Art.

Kingsman was distributed by WML+ in February 2015 and it received a huge support from movie-goers. However, the movie-goer and, especially, Kingsman fans are not lucky this times because the new “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” is now showing in Cambodia.
