Zika: Cambodian Health Ministry says be careful
The Cambodian Ministry of Health has warned Cambodians outside of the country to take extra safety precautions concerning Zika, according to Khmer Times.
The Cambodian Ministry of Health has warned Cambodians outside of the country to take extra safety precautions concerning Zika, according to Khmer Times.
This warning comes after Singapore recently confirmed a total of 115 local cases of the Zika virus. Malaysia also confirmed its first case of Zika on Thursday, after a woman reportedly visited her daughter in Singapore.
Although the ministry insists there is no emergency or outbreak of the virus in the country, they say traveling citizens and pregnant women should be cautious and avoid mosquito bites.

– Zika virus disease is caused by a virus transmitted primarily by Aedes
- – Symptoms, which are mostly mild, include fever, skin rash, conjunctivitis, muscle and joint pain, or headache.
- – Symptoms usually last for 2-7 days, although only one in five people show symptoms.
- – There is scientific consensus that Zika virus is a cause of microcephaly in newborns with infected mothers, and Guillain-Barré syndrome in infected adults.
